This year swimming has a record number of events: 37.                                                

Canoeing is a regular part of the Games. This year there are 16 events in two disciplines: slalom and sprint.

14 medals can be won in rowing.                                                            

The sailing competitions are held in the port of Enoshima, where they also sailed during the 1964 Olympic Games.
