Fighting and Defence Sports

The boxing tournaments take place in the Ryōgoku Kokugikan indoor sports hall, normally used for sumo wrestling.

Fencing was already played at the first Olympic Games in 1896 in Athens and has remained a regular part of the event ever since.

Karate is a new part on the Olympic program. Eighty athletes divided over the two sexes and events can show up.

Wrestling is divided into two disciplines: Freestyle and Greco-Roman. These two are divided into eight different weight classes.
